Mayor Daley Visits Montclare
The Montclare Senior Residence is an innovative approach to apartment living for seniors. As the boomers grow older, affordable senior housing is needed now more than ever. Montclare Senior Residences are filling this need in a unique way. For those 55 years and older with an income limit of $31,680 for one person, $36,180 for two, the apartments offer an affordable option, yet they are still filled with great amenities.
Mayor Daley recently attended the grand opening of The Montclare Senior Residences, located at 6650 W. Belden Avenue in Chicago , two blocks east of Oak Park Avenue and two blocks south of Grand Avenue . “I believe very strongly that our seniors deserve an attractive, affordable place to live so they can remain in their community, close to their children and grandchildren and the many friends and acquaintances they've made over the years.”
The 6-story building has 1- and 2-bedroom apartments, and upon completion of Phase II the community will consist of 333 units situated on more than five landscaped acres. The apartments have spacious layouts, with complete kitchens and full-size appliances.
They also have large closets, storage lockers, wall-to-wall carpeting, individually controlled heating and cooling, and mini blinds on all the windows. Each apartment has a master television antennae and is cable ready as well.
The amenities go beyond the individual apartments. Montclare is a community that cares about its residences and their quality of life. Built by MR Properties, LLC, developers Phillip Mappa and Colin Regan have been visionaries in seeing the needs for senior housing today and in the future. Now they've created Montclare Senior Residences in an answer to the need.
At Montclare Senior Residences, it goes beyond just the affordable rent and spacious apartments. There is also a great deal of community life, which is fostered by the many gathering places Montclare has on the site. There are large living rooms and social lounges, and even a library. A fitness center allows seniors to remain active, and card and game rooms are ideal for social fun.
The residents also provide convenience for everyday needs residents have, from a beauty salon and barbershop to a fully-equipped office center for business. There is a private dining facility for food services that is optional for those who request it. Weekly housekeeping and flat linen services are other features Montclare offers residents upon request.
Montclare offers a great deal of services on site, but they also have a location that makes it easy for residents to be a part of the larger community. The Brickyard Mall is nearby, as are numerous restaurants, churches, parks, and medical facilities. There is even a free shuttle van that takes residents to local grocery stores, shopping centers and other points of interest.
Safety is also a concern for many seniors, which is why Montclare is located in a quiet residential neighborhood. There is an extensive monitoring system, which includes closed circuit television network and special lobby camera that permits residents to view visitors on their own television screen before authorizing access to the building.
Each apartment has safety features as well such as: smoke detectors, sprinklers, and emergency in-unit panic buttons with personal pendants. There is also a 24-hour live-in maintenance staff
